That was entertaining! I got into WebAdmin. I had to reboot my laptop to get back out to the internet. That's not practical!

Here are pics of the 'Interfaces' tab and the VM Ethernet settings. Do I have incorrect settings anywhere?

What now to create an external interface? I think the internal interface is connected to the wireless interface, but I believe I need to connect the External interface to it as that's how I reach the Internet.

Once I'm done with that, what do I do to use the Astaro? What settings do I chage in Vista? Or, should I leave my present settings as they are and create another virtual machine for use with the Astaro VM?

Thanks - Bob
PS I will be writing a How-to guide for the KnowledgeBase. Even one working example would be helpful to someone with a different need.

Wow, I wonder if we got sidetracked. Well, maybe not, I can't really tell lol. Since I have another issue and posted a thread about it, I hadn't thought of this anymore. However I'll just say exactly what I would like to do and then fyi, I would need step by step to install vmware like this, then set up vmware like this and this etc, then install ASG like this and this etc.

To me step by step means from the beginning in a numerical list.

Step 1:
Step 2:
etc.

I have my linksys router to a switch and then all devices on lan. I want to use the linksys for what it does, as the gateway, but have all traffic filtered and go through the ASG in vmware on the pc. this is so I can get from ASG the AV, IPS, Content filtering, reporting. I wouldn't use ASG to set firewall rules or anything. Kind of like maybe the ASG would be bridge mode? I don't know.

However now I am considering hardware and use ASG on a pc as the gateway and then buying an 802.11n AP. Only thing is I don't know anything on what hardware to get that is at Fry's Home Electronics | Computer Parts & Accessories, Software, Games, TVs, Cameras - Frys.com. Then I guess I can get everything from newegg.com, but still wouldn't know what to get. I like the shuttle style case so tat's be cool. Mini-ATX or whatever they are. But I'd still rather get locally.
