Default Astaro/Hyper-V

Hi,

i know hyper-v is not supported by astaro. but i've seen some users in this forum running astaro on hyper-v.

can somebody please explain me how he/she installed astaro with this hypervisor?

I was unable to do this a few times and it would be a huge benefit for me because i've only this hypervisor with a lot of vms running...

thanks in advance

cheers

you could mount their image in a desktop version of VMware and then import it into HV but it would probably easier just to mount the ISO and install it like you would normally...

setup two NICS, one LAN, one WAN and you should be good to go...

just be aware of any vulnerabilities in a Hypervisor could theoretically affect your setup and vice-versa...

Default Hyper-V and Astaro: Legacy Network

We run an ACC on Hyper-V, which feels fine....
I am not sure, but IMHO ACC and AxG use the same Kernel.

Try to setup "Legacy Network" cards for your virtual machine and delete the Hyper-V-interfaces in the config. This could work.

Regards,
Thomas

@Tbrandl:
ACC under Hyper-V sounds good. Actually we need a acc in our company.

Can you post some more information about this? Which kind of template did you use?

Yours
Marco

Hi r2k!

It is a simple ACC Soft-Installation.
Configuration of the virtual host:
1 virt. processor
2 GB RAM
1 Legacy Network Adapter, connected to the standard lan

Boot the installation from the ISO and let it flow.... ;-)
Very simple, no problems here.

Regards,
Thomas

Thomas, many thanks for this hint!

I did not know that hyper-v has a legacy network. I just installed it and put some windows server on it.

I installed a ACC and a ASG on the Hyper-v (Windows 2008 Std R1). The NIC is a DEC interface and it looks like it is running. But I only did the inital setup without any configuration (After the installation and the reboot I finished). I hope, that I can test this configuration in the next week(s).

So I found a solution for my new home network

Regards
Marco

Edit: I tried the Beta of 7.5 (but this is going to stable in a few days).

Although the question was for astaro in specific, I believe it should be not much different of setting up any other application on Hyper-V. You might want to look how to prepare your Hyper-V environment & network to run your application at the following post:

MS Hyper-V Virtual Networks Configuration & Hyper-V Server settings.

I hope that helps,
Enjoy,
