Hi pgruber,

okay, I understand you cannot support something
which is not a standard.

But one more question about the PGP/MIME you are talking
about (maybe I am frozen on the PGP Thing):

Is PGP/MIME == rfc3156, or is that S/MIME?
Maybe this is an alternate solution for me...

Exactly, PGP/MIME is RFC3156

S/MIME is a completely different technology for the same purpose.

Okay, thanks.

You said you wonder that Clients which do not support
PGP/MIME are still out? Have a look at Outlook 2007,
Thunderbird 2.0.0.21 (without Enigmail), Lotus Notes
or Groupwise. They all display the ugly attachments.

I'm sorry, but that's why the Astaro solution is not usable for
us because most of our contacts simply use PGP/Inline....

But with all of them, you need an additional plugin?
With Thunderbird + Enigmail or Outlook + gpg4win it works fine.

Yes, I think so. You will need additinal Plugins.
With Thunderbird + Enigmail you have a PGP/MIME Client.
But with there is no Support for Outlook 2007 with gpg4win (GpgOL).

For Groupwise and Lotus Notes there are no clients at all,
so I think it would be nice if Astaro would support PGP/Inline...

Over here c't - Inhalt 8/2009 - Seite 140
they call the Inline Encryption "PGP/Classic",
and all of the tested Systems (Zertificon Z1 Secure Mail Gateway, PGP PGP Universal Server, Utimaco Safeware SafeGuard MailGateway, Allgeier Julia MailOffice) are able to handle it.
so I think it would be a cool feature to add to the ASG...

btw. wasn't Astaro using Utimaco in the backend?

Default Mail Encryption Inline Mime

Hi,

i´ve nearly the same situation here.
Having a customer, which using a solution providing PGP/Inline, encrypted Mails from these senders, will be decrypted, but only the mail itself.
Mostly they´re sending attachements, and these attachment will be presented to the our clients (Outlook 200x) as encrypted.

So i´ve to force the customer users to encrypt the mail and the attachements for itself.

But the problem came up, since updating to 7.3x. With 7.2x everything worked fine.

I think Astaro kicked the Utimaco engine in 7.3x and uses something selfwritten now...
