I know for a fact that you can use use your personal pop3 account since that's the way I am doing it.There are users on the forum that have internal mail server and they will be able to assist you on that. What exactly is your problem when configuring the smtp/pop proxy?

Wingman, he's studying for the ACE exam and wants to practice with the configuration of the SMTP proxy. He's looking for ideas about how to do that since he doesn't have is own internal SMTP server.

Angry please help

dear all,

i have the same problem, my client is having a hosted e-mail server outside the organization ^& they use MS Outlook 2007 to receive the e-mail using SMTP & POP3, they have lots of SPAM messages & i convinced them to use ASTARO ASG to solve this problem.
now the ASG is working fine with Network Security & Web Seccurity, but for the e-mails, i can't send or receive any e-mails...
please helppppppp...

Hi guys,
I assume you have enabled the pop3 proxy and are using prefetch?

Now you can either use a PF for the smtp or you can build a dummy server in the ASG. A number of us use smtp scanning on our outgoing e-mails.

If this what you are after search either this forum or search under my name as I submitted a detailed setup for using smtp for outgoing e-mail and having it scanned by the smtp proxy.
You can set you company wide spam filter in the ASG. You then setup you users in the user portal. Now ther are easy ways to tdo this using some of the auto authentication tools with domain controllers. Here I am out of my depth because I don't have a domain controller to try some of this out on. The software is too expensive for a home user.

If there is a static IP on the external Interface, make sure dns name and reverse lookps are ok and change MX record to ASG. ASG must be configured to send mail to external mailserver.
