Can't Make Private IP outside Interface?

I've got two connections to the Internet from two different ISPs. I would like to attach them to an external router, then build a private network connection between external router and the firewall. I've tried this many times before, and ASL seems to refuse to work if the outside interface is a private IP. Do nothing different but change the outside interface to public IPs and life is good. Any Ideas?

Hi Bullmoose,
it should work. But remember you have to use two different networks for inside and outside the ASL.
Like 192.168.1.x (outside) and 192.168.2.x (inside)

Bolmoose,
Do you have mare than one default gateways defined on you Interfaces.You can also only use one default gateway on your ASL box.

Well at least I know I'm not totally crazy now.. Only seemed to work to one default no matter what. Now I know why. For me to change my outside interface from public to private will require me to drop the interface, and I'm going to have to wait on that. Can't afford to drop it, especially if I don't know if it will work or not. Thanks for the help.
