Default SOCKS, opening ports

I have ASL v.4 running. How can I enable SOCKS services like ICQ, AOL or MSN messenger and such for use by clients on internal network? I enabled SOCKS proxy, Allowed networks: Any, User auth. disabled (I want everyone to be able to use it). It does not work. Also, how can I open ports? I got some requests to open a variety of ports - 9000, 1007, 2007 and others. Should I only add them in Definition - Services setup??? Thanx for help

The SOCKS proxy in ASL is a SOCKS v5 running on port 1080. If you enable it your clients still need to point to the proxy in their settings. Do NOT allow ANY network to access the proxy, this will result in an open proxy which means people comming from the internet can use your proxy.

Opening ports has to be done with packet filter rules, if you don't find the service you need you will have to create a service definition first.

OK, so I have now SOCKS proxy enabled on ASL, and I input ASL IP address plus port 1080 in Proxy setting in Internet Option in Internet Explorer on client machine. It still does not work. What else should I do? Thanx.
