Default Bandwidth Throttling or blocking Spotify...

Lots of people on my network are listening to music via Spotify ? A world of music. Instant, simple and free
Any idea how I can bandwidth throttle them down ?
(or worst case scenario, just block this feed ?)

Figure out what ports and server IPs it uses and setup QOS?

I have Web Security as a demo for 1 extra month.

I've seen that Spotify is successfully making outgoing connections to several remote addresses in the 78.31.8.x range that are registered to Spotify.

Spotify is a music streaming program but with a P2P component. It will continue to work when the outbound activity is blocked and so I would like to block (or at least bandwidth throttle it down to 64k or so) it to reduce bandwidth usage.

Unfortunately Spotify uses a range of ports for the P2P activities so blocking a port isn't going to be easy which is why I wanted to block by application

I'm trying to see how I can Bandwidth Throttle communication to 78.31.8.***, and I suppose the QOS service is my solution.

It sounds like you have a packet filter rule like 'Internal (Address) -> Any -> Any : Allow'. While that's not unusual, it's probably overly broad. If turning on IM/P2P protection doesn't block this traffic, how about putting another packet filter rule in before the one above: 'Internal (Address) -> Any -> [78.31.8.0/24] : Block'?
