Default Content Filter Whitelisting fail...

Hi Fellas:

Sometimes I get requests to unblock a site that may be business related but does not adhere to our content filter category.

If I try to whitelist the URL, I can load the URL but most of the GILFS, JPEGS, and related HTML looks broken (with no errors).

How do I whitelist a URL that I want to purposely unblock without modifying my content filter categories?

Example: MapMyWalk.com - Map your Walk for Fitness, Health and Weight Loss and join our Walking Community of Walkers. Walking Social Network. Calorie Counter, Pedometer, Distance, iPhone, and More.

Thanks!

So, you're sayng that, even when you put mapmywalk.com in the 'Always Allow these URL/sites' list, things are blocked? Which browser & version?

Cheers - Bob

yesh, I've had this problem for quite awhile...but not all sites

it seems to fail with IE6, 7, & 8 - you can get to the site but the images do not render...

It doesn't sound like it's the Astaro unless you have cacheing turned on; have you tried pressing the Clear Cache button on the 'Advanced' tab? Have you tried deleting the browser's cache of temporary files?

You have to look at the HTTP Content Filter Logs to find out witch combination of Addresses lurks behind the whitelisted Site.

For Example: For "maps.google.com" to work you need "gstatic.google.com"

Maybe "mapmywalk" is not their primary Domain Name? Maybe some Images are linked to an IP Address? Who supplies the Mapping Framework (Yahoo, Goolge, Microsoft)?

For most Sites the Domain Name "whatever.com" is sufficient (without the "www"). For some itīs a hassle to find out where the content comes from.

EDIT:
I spotted two additional Domains for "mapmywalk.com" after a quick look into the Reporting / WebSecurity / TopDomains By User:
"mapmyfitness.com" and "mapmyrun.com"
