Are there any plans to release a preconfigured VMWare image (as there was with 1.0 / 1.4)? If not, what is the recommended configuration of the Virtual Machine for those of us who will be running this under VMWare Server (Hard disk space, number of processors, etc.)?

Ditto. Looking at running this under ESX Server.

Hi,

I'm running it under ESX and I've configured it with 2 GB Memory and a 30GB Disk.

I guess it's ok to configure the VM just like it says in the release notes.
http://up2date.astaro.com/ACC_V1.9_ReleaseNotes.pdf on Page 6.

VMware Tools are included in the ISO so it's ok to install it from there.

Hope that helps.

Regards,
Henrik

Hi,

we will release specific Vmware images by the end of the week or beginning of next. Sorry for the delay ...

Regards,
Henning

No problem... just checking. Will there be any difference between the preconfigured ACC Server Image and one I would create on my own? If not, what are the recommended VMWare settings (OS type, HD size, Processors, etc.) for building the image?

Hi Bruce,

here are our recommendations:

OS type would Suse Linux Enterprise Server
HD size absolute minimum would be 10 GB
CPU ... completely depending on the number of users and devices
RAM ... completely depending on the number of users and devices

You could follow the standard hardware recommendations given in the release notes. But I guess you can also try out some cheaper settings. Here are some hints:

CPU/RAM/HDD for 10-25 devices and 1-2 users: 2 GHz, 512 MB, 20 GB HDD
CPU/RAM/HDD for 50 devices and 2 users: 3 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 30 GB HDD
CPU/RAM/HDD for 100 devices and 3 users: 1-2 virtual CPUs, 1-2 GB RAM, 30 GB HDD
CPU/RAM/HDD for 250 devices and 5 users: 2-4 virtual CPUs, 2-3 GB RAM, 60 GB HDD

You still should conisder raising the HDD size because of logging and reporting.

Cheers,
Henning
