[7.180] Running out of memory and swap [CONFIRMED]
yesterday after the update i reconfigured the qos settings for bittorent and skype / that was the only change i made / and it’s working great. today i noticed a very high memory usage /up from 40-45% to 90-95% / and very high swap usage / from 0% to 95%/. if you check the attached picture you can see that the swap usage is constantly climbing and falling back

Whatever this is, it just killed my box. Stopped all network connectivity, and the hdd light was on solid.
I was unable to even log in at the console to see what was going on, kept getting a timeout after 60 seconds when I entered the root login.

Memory leak for sure
Iam having the memory leak for afcd here also. It is eating over 40% of memory right now and doesn't seem to go down. Luckily I have a gig of ram. I would hate to see what it does to 512 meg. Would probably kill it.

afcd just brought my box down again. It was using 75% memory, and caused my box to run out of swap and phys memory.
Looks like afcd is used to the IM/P2P stuff, I just de-activated it, and my box is a bit more responsive.

I just turned off the im/p2p and memory dropped along with much faster. Looks like it needs a lot of work. I really don't know how boxes at this point have a chance anymore to run with 512 meg. I think it is insane to sell them with 512.

This issue is confirmed, we have a memory leak in the im/p2p detection engine, an update that fixes that issue is currently in the works.

I turned off IM/P2P and my memory usage went up.
I have noted a slight overall memory usage, but I attribute that to being a beta with extra code in it. CPU, very marginal increase (about 0.5%). Possibly my user base is not large enough to cause the ASG to work hard.
4 PCs, an occasional laptop running VPN and a VoIP ATA.
Then again I did build a bigger box to allow some head room with beta testing in case a process ran riot.
