Default [7.2 RC] FF3.0RC1 - grey listings

Hi,

I just noticed the following behaviour on WinXP SP3 with Firefox 3.0 RC1 (german) on ASG 7.193 (7.2 RC).
When opening the DHCP page everything looks good, the font color is black. When you click on a tab like "Static MAC/IP-Mappings" the font turns into grey and is not visible really good anymore. When you click back on the first tab "Servers" you get the grey font there too.
In HTTP Proxy it's exactly the same, clicking the tab "Content Filter Categories" shows up grey fonts. I don't know if the problem persists in other pages of the ASG backend.

See these two screenshots. I don't know wether it is a FF or ASG bug, but you're surely able to solve this if it's an ASG issue...

Just saw that the same behaviour is reproducable on ASG 7.104 stable. Seems to be a FF issue?? Can someone approve/confirm that??

yep

reported that already: [7.190] firefox 3.0b5 display problems...

probably problems with prototype (the ajax framework that astaro is using)...

as I said should be good to check at this before final release for astaro 7.200 as Firefox 3.0 will be (or already is) the default browser for any new distro...

thx

Indeed I think it has to be fixed - as most of the people I know iin the network sector are always using FF in the latest version. So this *IS* a real problem!

What does Astaro say to this?? Hello?? Knock-knock??!!

hi there all,

we are aware of the problem.
It only appears on Firefox 3 on Windows and Linux, Mac is not affected.

Currently we don't know for sure where the error is, weather it is in our code, in the javascript library or inside firefox itself.
The issue is tracked by Astaro and we will work in it.

regards
Gert

Thank you, can we look forward and hope to see this "bug" fixed in 7.2 release?

Well, unfortunatly it is not that easy, as it is not a problem in our code, but a rendering issue introduced in beta3 of the FF3 browser.
In order to properly fix it, we need to change FF3.

We are currently investigating if there is a way to work arround this Firefox rendering bug. Currently we have not found one, therefore it is very unlikly to be part of the 7.2 release.

regards
Gert

Gert: Do you know if the people at Mozilla (Firefox) are aware of this issue?

Unhappy

Since it was gold release day yesterday for FF3.0 I wanted to report in that the issue still exists w/ FF3.0 + ASG7.200 on WinVista.
