Default [7.193] Yahoo messenger blocking causes 100% CPU

I have tried to use Yahoo Messenger blocking and it seems to work.

However, I also notice that with this feature activated, the CPU utilisation will be 100% everytime someone launches Yahoo Messenger.

hi flancer,

doing IM/P2P detection is a cpu intense task, as every packet that is going throught the device needs to be analyzed, similar to ips.

What kind of hardware are you using?
How many active devices are behind your device?
Do you use IPS and/or HTTP proxy at the same time?

thanks
Gert

CPU: Sempron 1.9GHz
RAM: 1GB DDR2-800
Storage: 40GB IDE

I am running Site-to-Site VPN with just one site and have only 3 workstations behind the Astaro.

I only have one laptop running Yahoo Messenger

I do not use the Web filter function but I do use the Mail Filter (POP3 only) function.

IPS is activated.

The hardware I have is definitely more than a match than an ASG120.

Under this circumstances then it should be recommended that I/M & P2P is 100% not recommended for ASG120? This will leave these appliance owners in a lurch.
