ASG 7.500 Beta Contest

ASG BETA 7.500 is now available. For detailed information and ISO download links, read the 7.500 Up2Date Blog posting.
In order to give you a good reason to install, test and use the ASG 7.500 BETA version, Astaro is holding a small bug reporting contest for UBB users. Here is how it works:

Please report bugs in this forum by opening a new thread. Include the BETA version number and a small synopsis in the thread title. For example:

[7.450] INFO: WebAdmin speed too fast to keep up with!

Use the following syntax:
[Version#] BUG/INFO/QUESTION/etc.: Issue

For each bug you report, we'll award a number of "points". How many depends on how much useful information you include in your report. So please include as much information as possible. You should at least describe your configuration and what the effect of the bug is. Including log file snippets, tcpdumps, screenshots and other helpful items may get you additional points. Hint: Bug reports along the line of "It does not work, please help" will probably not score any points.
You can report any bug you find, however it must be a "new" bug (one that is not already filed in our internal issue tracker). We'll keep track of the found bugs in this posting. Please check the list below before reporting. Also the Astaro Mods are the final instance in report evaluation. Please do not start discussions about the fairness of the process.

When the BETA phase ends, the three top UBB bug reporters will receive a brand new Nintendo DSi gaming console as well as Amazon Gift cards, valued EUR 300 for first place, EUR 200 for second place, and EUR 100 for third place. For non-EU national winners, we'll try to get gift cards in your local currency. Failing that, you'll get a card for amazon.com, in US dollars. Depending on overall participation, comment quality, posting activity, and other discretionary factors, participants will receive upgrades to their Home User Licenses from 10 IP's to 50 IP's.

As always you are fast on the button. The images will be propagated around the other FTP's shortly. Our poor ftp.astaro.de site is already getting a lot of connections, apparently interest is high.

It's only a beta, I guess further changes will be made later on!

Reverse proxy was not slated for 7.500, its a big feature, and we still work on it. This is why it has not yet been set to "planned" on the public feature request site at http://feature.astaro.com...yet.

US ftp2 is fast for me right now... maxing out my 10mbps connection

Not to nitpick but the email that was just sent out says:

"Every participant that participates by posting will be rewarded with a Power-Home-Use License which increases the IP Limit from 10IPs to 50IPs."

Which is it??

Also put me down for 'reverse proxy' as well Although we really need this right away so we'll probably be implementing some other solution.....

Does anyone know if the transition from beta to final product will be in the form of a patch or will it require a reinstall?

I am not sure what you are referring to because a power home user is a 50IP licence.
or this extract from the release notes

"Special Home User Keys
In addition, we will offer active testers a specially enhanced home-user license which allows the full protection of up to 25 IP addresses (vs. the normal 10). These user keys are awarded after the GA release of 7.500, and are based on user activity, feedback, and general contribution to the Beta phase at our sole discretion."

thank you for the invitation. Sometime today I will be able to join the party.

Download time varies from 8 hours to 12 hours, speed ranges from 14.4kB to 20.1kB. Yes, I remember all the discussion on the download speed not that long ago.

In the meantime I will be patient and review v7.403 performance.

I was wrong sometime tomorrow I might be able to start testing if I let the download continue at 5-6KB at times the download speed was down to 1.4kB. I killed it a number of times.
It doesn't matter which server I connect to, all have a link back to ftp.astaro.de for the beta.
Also during the download the ASG becomes very sluggish, once the download is killed the performance returns to normal. Does that point at a but in the ftp proxy. This happened while using vista 64 and mandriva 2009.1 64.
