Default Speed Question

Is there a minimum internet speed requirement for the Secure Client? Using standard DSL, the speed is horrible. I can dial up a machine using pcAnywhere and work faster than a machine using secure client to connect. I was just curious, as I haven't seen, any recommended internet speeds that the ASC should be used with. I can't imagine it is supposed to be this slow.

I just had a client ask me about performance between PCA using native encryption (such as it is) and running ASC. My initial response was that the performance should improve, as the remote machine would not have the overhead of managing the encryption. This is purely speculative on my part, as most of my testing has been to establish the connection, log into the NetWare tree, run a DIR, and perhaps open VNC and log in, but not do anything of substance.

I know of no recommended minimums, as the VPN will connect even over dialup links. Do you have any kind of traffic proxy or filtering going on at the client side (or the remote side - in the workstation or on the server from which you are attempting to pull or push data, for that matter)?

What are you trying to do? Perhaps I can run some parallel tests on what I have to see if this is an isolated occurrence.

Have you checked your MTU settings?
